Terms of Service

Last updated: May 6, 2026

1. Acceptance of terms

By accessing The Power Tree (powertree.us) you agree to these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.

2. What this site is

The Power Tree is a free, neutral, non-partisan reference resource that aggregates publicly-available information about U.S. federal officials and political institutions, including names, photos, salaries, office contact details, party affiliation, terms in office, biography, and links to public money-and-influence records. Data is aggregated from public sources including Wikipedia, OpenSecrets.org, the Federal Election Commission, official government websites, Forbes, Bloomberg, and major publishers.

3. Accuracy

We make reasonable efforts to keep information accurate and current. However:

If you find an error, please contact us so we can correct it.

4. No editorial framing

The Power Tree does not endorse any candidate, party, or political position. We treat all parties identically. We provide facts; you draw conclusions.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

6. Email subscriptions

By providing your email, you consent to receive emails from us about new politician cards and site updates. You may unsubscribe at any time.

7. Affiliate disclosures

Some links on this site are affiliate links (Amazon Associates, Skimlinks, Impact, etc.). When you click an affiliate link and complete a purchase, we may earn a commission at no additional cost to you. Affiliate revenue helps keep the site free.

8. Third-party content

We link to and embed content from third parties including Wikipedia (photos, biographical text), OpenSecrets (donor data), TurboVote (voter action), and various government websites. We are not responsible for the content or practices of third-party sites. We respect their copyrights and use only what is permitted by their terms.

9. Editorial and verification tools

The Power Tree may use software and AI-assisted tools to help organize data, review clarity and coverage, and keep hundreds of pages internally consistent. Regardless of the tools involved, every public factual claim is intended to be traceable to the cited external source — an official government record, an FEC filing, or a published disclosure — rather than to any automated system. Where a claim cannot be sourced, it should not appear.

10. Intellectual property

The structure, design, and original written content of The Power Tree are © 2026. Public-domain photos (official government portraits) and government-published data are not subject to our copyright. Reasonable quotation for journalism, education, and commentary is welcomed.

11. Disclaimer of warranties

The Power Tree is provided "as is" and "as available." We make no warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement. Use of the site is at your own risk.

12. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, The Power Tree and its operator shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or exemplary damages arising from your use of the site, including loss of profits, data, or goodwill.

13. Changes to these terms

We may modify these terms from time to time. Continued use of the site after a change constitutes acceptance of the modified terms.

14. Governing law

These terms are governed by applicable laws of the United States. If a state-specific venue term is needed later, it will be added only after the operator confirms the correct jurisdiction.
